Font sync for Mac

Your fonts
on every Mac.

Install a font once. Typecast puts it on every Mac you use, synced through the cloud drive you already have.

macOS 12 or later  /  Apple Silicon

[ The problem ]

Typecast just killed
this dialog box.

You know the feeling. You start work at the office and finish at a cafe, but uh-oh! Missing fonts… Not anymore. Your fonts sync to your computers now, period.

[ The app ]

One library.
Every Mac.

This is Typecast, exactly as it ships. Every font is shown in its own type, with a dot that says where it stands.

My Font Library
The Typecast window: a sidebar with the font library, collections, smart collections and three devices, and a list of fonts each shown in its own typeface with a sync status dot.

[ How it works ]

Set it up once.
Then forget it.

Font cards for Helvetica Neue, Georgia, Courier New and Futura under All, Sans serif, Serif and Mono filters.
01

Add your fonts

Drop them into Typecast, or install them the usual way. It picks up your font folders.

Three Macs wired to one cloud drive, with fonts moving up and down the wires.
02

Sync through your cloud

iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive. The files stay in your drive.

Three rules, Classification is Serif, Tag is variable, Status is Active, feeding a smart collection called Variable serifs.
03

Sort, switch, create

Collections, smart rules and automatic tags keep the right fonts switched on.

[ Features ]

Made for people
with “too many” fonts.

[ Menu bar ]

Lives in your menu bar.

See where sync stands, pause it for an hour, or switch a whole collection on or off without opening the app.

The Typecast menu bar panel: All synced, 589 fonts in iCloud Drive, links to Discover Fonts, My Library and Settings, and switches for Brand Kit, Sans Serif, Handwritten, Script and Google Fonts.
[ Smart collections ]

Collections that fill themselves.

Typecast reads each font and tags it: serif, script, mono, handwritten and more. Smart collections keep up on their own.

Smart Collections: Sans Serif, Serif, Mono, Script, Handwritten and Variable, each a folder of font samples with its rule, like Category is serif.
[ Discover ]

Every Google Font,
built in & free to use.

Browse the whole Google Fonts library inside Typecast and add a family in one click. It lands on your other Macs too.

The Google Fonts catalog inside Typecast, filtered to Display: Bangers, Gravitas One, Oxanium, Lilita One, Abril Fatface and more, each with an Add to library button.
[ Coming soon ]

Discover fonts, from your desktop.

Browse independent type from inside Typecast. Buy a family once and it lands in your library on every Mac.

[ Collections ]

Switch a whole collection off.

Off hides those fonts from the apps on your Mac, without deleting a thing. Web tools like Figma bring their own fonts, so those stay put.

The Brand Kit collection switched on: Helvetica Neue, Avenir Next and Optima, all active.
[ Privacy ]

Your fonts never touch our servers.

Typecast syncs through a cloud drive you already pay for. Your font files and font lists stay between your Macs and your drive.

Typecast settings, Devices: up to 3 Macs can sync with your cloud. This Mac, Studio iMac and MacBook Pro, each with a sync switch. 3 of 3 used.

Typecast is for one person keeping their own fonts in step across their own Macs. It is not a way to share fonts with friends or a team.

Capping a library at three Macs keeps it that way, and keeps you on the right side of your font licenses.

Good

How does Typecast sync my fonts between Macs?

Through a folder in your own cloud drive: iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive. Install a font on one Mac and Typecast puts it on your others, up to 3 Macs per account. Your font files never touch our servers.

Does syncing change a font's license?

No. Syncing only copies your files between your own Macs. It does not change what a font's license allows. You are responsible for having the right number of licenses for the fonts you use, on every Mac you use them on.

What happens if I cancel?

Your fonts stay on your Macs and in your cloud drive. Sync stops, and Typecast no longer adds, updates or removes fonts for you.

Do my font files go to Typecast's servers?

Never. Font files and your font lists move through your own cloud drive. We only store your account details.

Will turned-off fonts disappear from Figma?

Typecast turns fonts on and off for the apps on your Mac. Web-based tools like Figma, Canva and Google Docs include their own fonts, such as Google Fonts, so those still appear there. Fonts you installed yourself follow your switches everywhere they are read from your Mac.

Which cloud drives work?

iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive. Any of them, as long as the same folder is available on each Mac.

Is there a free plan or a trial?

No. Typecast is a paid app: $4.99 a month, $49.99 a year or $149.99 once. If it is not for you, see our refund terms.

What does it run on?

macOS 12 or later, on a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later). Intel Macs are not supported yet. The download page has the full requirements.

Never hunt for a
missing font again.
